The position is to be taken as quickly as possible.It is remunerated at the salary level TV-L 13 and calls for 39 hours per week.The University aims to increase the number of women in research and teaching and explicitly encourages women to apply. Duties consist solely of independent or supervised teaching. Teaching obligations are determined in accordance with current state regulations (Lehrverpflichtungsverordnung, LVVO). On the basis of the LVVO, the Office of the Dean can determine the individual teaching obli-gation anew. Teaching duties currently comprise 3,2 teaching hours per semester.Specific Duties:
Head the Department of Arachnology and curate the scientific collection.
Pursue independent research # in accordance with Section 27 subsection 1 sentence 3 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG).
Pursue independent research in biodiversity, taxonomy, systematics, and morphology, pref-erably in the field of arachnology using the CeNak’s extant scientific collection.
Publish research findings in internationally recognized journals and present papers at conferences.
Develop and acquire externally funded projects involving, if possible, national and interna-tional cooperation.
Take part in academic conventions.
Pursue fieldwork in various regions and biotopes.
Pursue conservation measures in accordance with latest findings in the field.
Expand the collection, especially scientific documentation (incl. electronic documentation of the collection).
Support scientific collection activities, particularly with regard to external researchers working on the collections. 
Co-supervise the entomological library and archive.Requirements:
A university degree in a relevant field. 
Experience in systematic collection research, particularly in the field of arachnology.
Experience in the field of zoological systematics, particularly in arachnology as well as in evolutionary and biodiversity research.
Extensive and in-depth teaching experience.
Publishing experience and proof that academic work has been published. 
Experience of working with scientific collection materials (catalogs, collection management).

Duties include research and teaching in systematic zoology, specifically entomology, including taxonomy, morphology and molecular based phylogeny, as well as biogeography. We look at a candidate expected to conduct anatomical-morphological investigations, studies in population biology and phylogenetics as all as fieldwork. The successful candidate is expected to publish research findings in high-profile journals, to develop and acquire externally funded projects involving also national and international cooperation, to also to take part in academic congresses, and pursue applied basic research in fields relevant to conservation.
The teaching obligation is governed by teaching obligation regulations.Requirements:
A university degree in a relevant field; a doctorate is desirable. Experience with and in-depth knowledge of the following is required: in taxonomy, morphology, phylogenetic systematics, and especially in entomology; materials in scientific collections, particularly in the field of entomology (catalogs, collection management); planning, implementing, and teaching courses; producing academic work (please furnish proof that you have published); 
Experience in acquiring external funding and publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals is also desirable. You have experience with and enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams and can communicate with ease in both German and English. You work in a structured, goal-oriented fashion. You are resilient, demonstrate above-average commitment, and are prepared to assume responsibility. We expect you to be able to use conventional software and to quickly assimilate new scientific developments and approaches. We further expect a high degree of flexibility, independence, and creativity. Qualified disabled applicants receive preference in the application process.
