PhD student position in Auditory Neuroscience

Our lab
Our group is broadly interested in the evolution and development of hearing in vertebrates. We are part of a vibrant community of auditory and sensory neuroscience groups in Oldenburg, joined in the Cluster of Excellence [UTF-8?]“Hearing4All”, Research Centre Neurosensory Science, Collaborative Research Centre [UTF-8?]“Active [UTF-8?]Hearing”, and the associated Graduate Schools.

The project
We are looking for a PhD candidate to study the representation of auditory space in the brain of birds. This primarily neurophysiological project will complement ongoing behavioral work on sound localization performance in the same species.

Your profile
Applicants must hold an MSc or equivalent university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Biology, Neuroscience, Physics). You are enthusiastic about doing a PhD and, ideally, have some experience with neurophysiology and the use of Matlab and/or with neuroanatomy.

We offer
The position is available from Jan 2015, for initially 2.5 years. Salary is according to German TV-L E13/65%.
