Sussex, UK: PhD, bee ecology and conservation Tisk

University of Sussex, School of Life Sciences

PhD in Biology, Bee Ecology & Conservation

Funding for: UK Students, EU Students
Closes: 15th December 2014
Start Date: 19 January 2015
Project Supervisor: Professor Dave Goulson ( Tato emailová adresa je chráněna před spamboty, abyste ji viděli, povolte JavaScript )

Bees face many pressures in the modern world; there are fewer flowers than there once were, they are exposed to novel pathogens, and to complex mixtures of pesticides. This project will broadly focus on factors affecting the health of wild bee species, and how best to sustain healthy populations of wild pollinators. It may focus on bumblebees and/or other wild bees such as Osmia, about which less is known, and could also include other pollinators such as hoverflies (Syrphidae).

The precise direction of the research will depend on the interests of the successful candidate and will be discussed and agreed as the project evolves.
