Trondheim, Norway: Postdoc in wildlife ecology Tisk

A Post-Doctoral position is available at the Department of Biology. The position is a part of the large EU Horizon 2020 funded project AfricanBioServices which will run from September 1st 2015-2019.

Description

Job description The Post Doc will be the core researcher in a subproject establishing a network of exclosures both inside and outside of the Serengeti and Mara protected areas. Within the exclosure network the post doc will analyse the effects of livestock and wildlife herbivory on productivity, nutrient and carbon dynamics. The set up will also be used to test the impact of climate on productivity and nutrient dynamics by transplanting vegetation turfs between regions differing in climate. The resulting data will be combined with data from other parts of the AfricanBioServices project on regional wildlife and livestock abundance, other biodiversity indicators (soil fauna, birds and amphibians) as well as the importance of grazing for important ecosystem services to the people in the region. The post doc project will hence give ample opportunities for producing new knowledge on the importance of ungulate grazing in combination with climate change for biodiversity and ecosystem function and services in savanna ecosystems.
