The German Primate Center GmbH – Leibniz-Institute for Primate Research in Göttingen is a primate research and competence center that does basic research. PhD position (65% TVL 13) in behavioural endocrinology

We are seeking a highly motivated student for a project on the relationship between sociality, personality, stress levels and individual health in a wild population of crested macaques (Macaca nigra). The study will combine detailed analysis of behavioural data, including social network analysis, with data on physiological stress, and certain non-invasively collected health markers. It will be part of the Macaca Nigra Project (www.macaca-nigra.org) in the Tangkoko Nature Reserve, Indonesia and will be carried out in close collaboration with an Indonesian counterpart. Candidates will enrol in the graduate programme of the University of Göttingen. Field work will comprise collection of behavioural data, plus faecal and urine sam-ples for hormone analysis.
