A 2 year postdoc position is available at Institute FA Forel at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. The research will be carried out within the EU COST Action NETLAKLE in close collaboration with Eawag (Dr Francesco Pomati) in Switzerland and Netherlands Institute of Ecology (Dr Lisette de Senerpont Domis). Aim of the project is to investigate the drivers of phytoplankton community assembly in a trophic context,

i.e. abiotic environmental filters, resource competition and interactions with grazers will be studied in a coherent manner. The project proposal offers the opportunity to take two alternative approaches: (i) automated, high frequency lake monitoring, including phyto- and zooplankton using flowcytometry and image analysis – generating hypotheses on basis of observations; (ii) testing hypotheses using micro- and mesocosms in laboratory and outdoor facilities. Whether (i) or (ii) will be emphasized in the project will depend on interests and expertise of the successful candidate. Salary range 69,000 – 76,000 CHF per year, depending on experience.
