Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Aquatic ecology and Evolution (ref no 2015/3435): Oslo, Norway
Application deadline: 13 April, 2015
Zooplankton exhibit a wide range of life history strategies. While studies on zooplankton growth and development in relation to food and temperature abound, few address trade-offs underlying the links between these processes, and even fewer have considered how additional stressors impact on life history-traits in general.
The successful candidate will work experimentally with copepod systems to examine how predation risk can modify trade-offs and responses in life history traits of zooplankton. The project combines aspects of pelagic ecology and evolutionary biology with a strong experimental focus. Experiments will target relevant life history responses both at individual and population levels, and through successive generations.

PhD Research Fellowship in aquatic ecology (DOC-productivity) ref no 2015/3428: Oslo, Norway
Application deadline: 13 April, 2015The PhD will be part of an international team working on effects of climate change on boreal lake ecosystems, focussing the effects of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) on light climate and productivity in boreal lakes and/or coastal ecosystems. The PhD project will have access to models, monitoring data bases, and Nordic datasets on climate, hydrology and catchment properties, and can involve both analysing existing data and performing new lab and field experiments.
