POST-DOC POSITION AT CHARLES UNIVERSITY IN PRAGUE AVAILABLE FROM
JANUARY 2016
Genomics of speciation in nightingales
Understanding the mechanisms of species origin is a major goal of
evolutionary biology. Until recently, studies of genetic basis of
species formation has been restricted to model organisms amenable to
laboratory crosses.

The potential of mesenchymal stem cells in regenerative medicine
Department: Biomedical Center, Medical Faculty in Pilsen, Charles University in Prague alej Svobody 1655/76, Plzeň, Czech Republic Laboratory: Laboratory of Cellular Regenerative Medicine Supervisor: Lucie Vištejnová, Ph.D. Form: daily Start: October 2015 Duration: 4 years Scholarship: 9 000 CZK / month
Annotation: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are one of the promising approaches in the cell therapy and their regenerative potential is studied for many years. They can differentiate into specialized cell types and/or mediate cell processes by production of regulatory molecules (secretome). However, the particular mechanisms governing MSC mediated tissue regeneration are not precisely described. In the case of liver injury, liver transplantation is the only available therapy today and MSC application could offer the promising alternative of the treatment. MSC were describe to differentiate into functional hepatocytes after particular stimuli or their secretome improved liver function. On the other hand, some studies revealed no positive effect of MSC application or even some studies are contradictory. The aim of this project will be to elucidate the mechanisms governing MSC mediated liver regeneration at cellular and molecular level with the focus on the paracrine effect of MSC secretome. Applied methods: Isolation and cultivation of mesenchymal stem cells Isolation and cultivation of hepatocytes Flow cytometry and cell sorting Proliferation and migration assays Cellular tracking, fluorescent and confocal microscopy Protein quantification Gene expression analysis, gene sequencing Applicants send short cover letter and CV to
